Beijing is the Best Choice if You Want to Enjoy the Imperial Palace While Qiankou is a Must if You Want to See the Ancient Chinese Residence

Qiankou Ancient Village in Huizhou District of Huangshan City has been the place where Taoqian, an established poet in the East Jin Dynasty once recited his touching verses: “Picking up the Chrysanthemum flowers in Dongli, I pleasantly see the Nanshan Mountains.” It is right here that you can find the most refined and delicate ancient houses of Ming and Qing Dynasty together with grand mansions and fancy gardens as well, which reveal the latest five hundred years old history and the life style of the local people.

Qiankou Houses Museum is situated at the foot of the Purple Peak, a fork on the road to the Mt. Huangshan from Nanjing, Jiangxi, Shanghai and Hangzhou. It was granted by the State Department as the National Key Protection Unit as early as January 1988. Because of its historical, artistic and scientific values, it has become the precious living example for the study of history of ancient Chinese architecture and “a living monograph of the folk arts of the Ming and Qing Dynasty” and “model of highly harmonious integration of man-made scenery and natural landscape”. Many films and TV series were shot here, including “China’s Five Thousand Years of Civilization” by Japan, “Ancient Huizhou”, “Walk out of the Lanshui River”,“Wang Jiaxiang”, “Inside Story of Xuedizi”, “Taiping Heavenly Kingdom”, “New 4th Army”, “Eight Thousand Li Cloud and Moon” by Taiwan, “Huizhou Women” and etc.
